About The Vale Ledger

The Vale Ledger is an independent online magazine about small business in Denbighshire and the Vale of Clwyd. It is written for the people who start, run and grow the county's small firms: the trader weighing up a first stall, the workshop owner looking for a bigger unit, the established business deciding whether to hire.

What the magazine covers

The guides fall into three sections. Starting a Business in Denbighshire covers the first steps, the legal form and the plan. Running and Growing a Business covers funding, growth and the policy changes that reach a small firm. Premises, Towns and Resources covers the ground the business stands on: the towns, the units and the organisations worth knowing.

A note on this domain's history

This domain previously carried the website of the Denbighshire Enterprise Agency, the bilingual advice service that supported new and established businesses in the county from offices in Ruthin and Rhyl for many years. The Vale Ledger is not that agency and is not affiliated with it. Several guides keep the addresses the old service used, because those addresses still answer the same questions; the content, however, is the magazine's own.

How the guides are written

Each guide is written in the third person, checked against the public sources it cites, and reviewed for accuracy before publication. The magazine sells nothing and takes no payment for the organisations it lists. Where a guide points to an outside body such as Business Wales, HMRC or the council, it does so because that body is the right place for the question, not because of any relationship.
